The Seventh Annual High-Level Retreat of Special Envoys and Mediators on the promotion of peace, security and stability in Africa was convened from 26 to 27 October 2016 in Sharm el Sheikh, Arab Republic of Egypt, on the theme, “Silencing the Guns – Mediation Practices and Contemporary Wars.” This Retreat was organized by the African Union (AU) Commission and hosted by the Government of the Arab Republic of Egypt. The Cairo Center for Conflict Resolution and Peacekeeping in Africa (CCCPA) and the African Centre for the Constructive Resolution of Disputes (ACCORD) provided technical support for the Retreat.
