Mr Aziz Pahad joined ACCORD in 2009 as an ACCORD Senior Political Advisor.
Having left South Africa in 1964, Pahad was responsible for developing the Anti-Apartheid Movement in the UK and Europe. In 1985 he was elected as member of the NEC of the ANC, a position he held until 2008. In 1990 Pahad returned to South Africa and in 1991 was appointed Deputy Head of the ANC’s Department of International Relations. He also became a member of the National Peace Executive Committee. In 1994 he served on the Transitional Executive Council’s Sub-Council on Foreign Affairs, before been elected that year as a Member of Parliament. He was appointed as Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, a position he held until 2008. In 2009 Pahad was appointed as a Senior Advisor and Consultant to the Department of International Relations and Co-operation (DIRCO).
Pahad holds a MA Degree in International Relations from the University of Sussex.
